Day Three Recap – 19th March

The CBS Arena in Coventry welcomed the Paddy Power Kabaddi World Cup for day three of the competition.

The Indian women’s team started the day by handing out a punishing defeat to the Polish team, showing the combination of strength, skill and agility that are already a hallmark of this very experienced team, despite the determination and effort of the Polish side.

Next up Italy took on a Scottish men’s team undoubtedly still buoyed up by their cracking match against India yesterday. It was a tough match and Italy played to a high standard with great attacks by their raiders, but defensively unravelled, with Scotland able to create a significant lead at the start. The second half saw Scotland switch it up to maintain their lead, culminating in a comfortable victory for the Scottish team.

Match three was a tough and closely-fought game between England and Hong Kong China’s women’s teams. Whilst England were ahead more than 10 points at some stages, the determination of Hong Kong China’s team pulled back the points different, but it just wasn’t quite enough to defeat a tight-knot, passionate and confident home nation.

England continued that winning streak into the men’s match against the USA, with a commanding display of technical ability and agility by the England team. The day wrapped up with a very polished delivery by India against Hong Kong China. The depth of experience within the Indian team enabled them to dish out a devastating loss for Hong Kong China.
